In looking for the best deals across the web, we are seeing more and more of the 2012 model PCs being discounted. The Haswell roll-out has been fairly slow, with only the high-end Core i7 models being updated en masse. Now more of the mid-range systems are seeing end of life discounts, which hopefully signals greater availability of Haswell models in coming weeks.
While we’re waiting for the newest models to hit the market, the old ones are getting some steep price cuts. This Inspiron 15z from Dell is a well-equipped ultrabook that is marked down to its lowest price yet. If you like the concept of an ultrabook but like larger screens, this deal is for you.
The Inspiron 15z is almost off in its own category, combining the portable design of an ultrabook with a large 15.6-inch screen and built-in DVD burner. There are a few other 15-inch ultraportable laptops around, but they don’t have the built-in optical and most lack the mSATA SSD too.
Thanks to the extra landscape available for ports and features, you get a rather nice load out of four USB 3.0 ports (one of which can charge a mobile device), gigabit ethernet, HDMI output, 8-in-1 media card reader, Wireless-N, HD webcam, and Bluetooth 4.0. The standard backlit keyboard is also a nice touch.
For $599.99 you get a 3rd gen Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and 32GB mSATA SSD. The icing on this cake is the one year in-home warranty that Dell includes with most of their PCs, a nice touch especially at this price.
